I've done a handful of recording sessions @Moderntone with Jacob and was always super pleased with the outcome.Jacob is as well experienced, creative with engineering and production and the studio and gear are top notch.I was always more then happy with the resaults and had fun during the process.*Highly recommend the SJC drum set, That's one sick kit!

Great studio and one of the nicer build-outs I have seen. Also, extremely convenient to book rooms for recording or just practicing. Whether you are a seasoned professional musician or just an aspiring one looking to sharpen your skills, this place has everything to fit your needs. Sweet acoustics and quality equipment on hand. The owner is also very flexible and responsive no matter what type of session you are looking to book.

Real working musicians as instructors. Amazing pro-level facilities. Super convenient online scheduling (fantastic for busy family life). What's not to love? ModernTone is the best recording studio+music lessons in the East Bay, hands down.

I have been working on a new project with Jacob who built this great studio from scratch. It has been a lot of fun and an enriching experience throughout. As a recording engineer, Jacob works quickly but with great precision. He is also a talented Producer who has contributed many musical ideas that have truly enhanced my material. I would recommend this studio to anyone looking to enjoy a creative experience in a really fun and pleasant setting. Oh and the prices are very reasonable too!

ModernTone studios is a great place to be for all musicians or aspiring musicians. I’ve taken guitar lessons with Jacob for a couple of years now. It would take so much more time to be learning the things he teaches on my own. He makes lessons fun and challenging, intertwining theory with songs I love. He focuses and creates customized lessons based on what it is you want to learn or do with your music. Within half a year of lessons, I was already playing music in front of my yoga classes. I’ve gotten so much further with guitar and music than I ever thought I would at this point in time. To me that is so worth it! I highly recommend him as a teacher, and just love the vibe of the entire studio and the other musicians and teachers there.

Such a nice and professional studio! And, I can't say enough about Jacob... he started with my son when he was very young and not only had to focus on teaching guitar, but supplement the confidence, emotional control, and other "life lessons" that we work on at home. He has had the kind patience and commitment that any parent would hope for! He is constantly adapting his lessons to keep them informative but very fun to maintain focus and enjoyment! Thank you so much! I am very happy to have found Jacob and ModernTone Studios!

The studio is lovely and both of my boys are taking lessons from different instructors. They are 6 and 9 and Jacob and Annie have been great with them. They are making music accessible to the boys and making them like it. My younger son is asking for homework and wants to practice. The studio is clean and nice to sit in and they even have WiFi for me to use while waiting. The appointment system is low-pressure instead of packages, which makes it easier to book without making a huge commitment. 5 stars!
