We tried conversion of our 8mm film to DVD (720x480 resolution) at another company, but the results were less than satisfying. Not wanting to give up, we tested the frame-by-frame 2k resolution (2048x1556) scanning offered by Video Conversion Experts including the optional automatic white-balance correction. The result obtained for our 1960's film reels was outstanding. While not the cheapest method of converting 8mm film, if you want really good conversion I cannot recommend anyone else more highly. Their customer service is also superb.

I just had about 300' (approximately 20 minutes) of family home movies from the 1970s transferred to digital. The original film was Super 8 format. I first tried a local big box store. Although less expensive, the results were entirely unusable. The images were so blurred I couldn't identify the people. I returned the discs. I found VCE through a Google search. I was impressed by reports of the quality of their work and especially the responsive of Brad Hinkle. Doing this requires some what of a leap of trust and at least I felt like my precious films weren't going into a black box. Bottom line - the results were outstanding. I was planning on editing them in iMovie so Brad told me exactly what output I needed for that - no more no less. I edited it and added titles and music. My family is very well pleased. Of particular note is that there was film of one of my deceased sisters. one of the reels was from the summer of 1970 when she was 23. She passed away exactly 9 years later at age 32. The quality of this particular reel is so good it's almost like seeing her again. I don't know how you could put a price on that. Next up for me - my own old VHS!

In 1975 I made a short 16mm comedy film that I now wanted to convert to a DVD. Not only was VCE able to do this, but they were also able to remaster it in 2K with grain elimination and upload it to YouTube, and the film has never looked better (search “The Stopover 1975” to see it). These people are real pros and do superb work with state-of-the-art equipment. Also, excellent customer service. They were very helpful. Paul Steindl, Green Lake, Wisconsin.

I had an old 8mm film made in the 1970s (in which some of my family important events were recorded), and I was desperately trying to find a dependable company that could transfer the content of that film to a digital format. After a long search I came across the Film to DVD Company (also known as Video Conversion Experts). I wrote to them describing my situation and received a very quick and informative reply from Brad Hinkle. He explained to me all the details of the conversion process, made very useful recommendations about which options would be best for me, and patiently answered my numerous questions. My order to transfer that old 8mm film to two digital formats (recommended to me by Brad) was processed very quickly. I have just received the package back from the company, and I am very happy with the result -- the quality of both digital formats (to which my old film was transferred) is excellent. I am so impressed with the quality of their work and the support and help that I personally received from Brad Hinkle, that I am planning to submit more orders to Video Conversion Experts to preserve our old VHS videos.

We spent several months researching film transfer services and I found VCE during a great promotional sale. Their sales team answered all of my questions before we ordered, though I'm sure they answer the same questions a hundred times per day. The quality of the resulting transfer is outstanding, especially considering we were transferring 60-year-old 16mm film. We are doing our future orders with VCE because of a wonderful experience. I can't recommend them enough.

My parents had over 50 Super 8 film reels that I wanted digitized. After doing a lot of research on companies, I came upon Video Conversion Experts. I knew nothing about the process for digitizing film, so I called Video Conversion Experts to learn more. I spoke with Brad and I can't say enough on how helpful he was in answering all my questions. If I didn't understand something he was explaining to me, he patiently explained it to me in another way. He never once made me feel like I was asking a stupid question and never rushed me off the phone. I also was very impressed with his knowledge and expertise. I ended up learning more on my own about the complications of digitizing film and he was right on point with everything. I really liked all the options Video Conversion Experts offer as well. Once you understand the options, getting a quote and creating an order is very simple on their website. The cost was a factor for us, so we ended up sending 31 reels to get digitized initially. We opted for the Pro 2K scan with color and grain restoration and chose an HD-MP4 format. My dad has poor eyesight, so while leaving grain may add to the charm of old films (from the late 60s to early 80s), it would have made it much more difficult for my dad to see the images. The end result was amazing! The Pro 2K scan, removal of grain, color correction, and HD-MP4 format was well worth the extra cost. I highly recommend Video Conversion Experts to anyone wanting to convert their Super 8 film to digital. By the way, I live in NH and the company is based out of Arizona. Brad told me how to ship the film and we had no issues whatsoever.
